The common elements throughout each of the stories are the ruler Shahryār and his wife Scheherazade. The tales have roots in different cultures such as Arabic, Turkish, Jewish, Greek, Persian, and Indian. The stories of The One Thousand and One Nights were amassed over centuries by different authors throughout Asia and North Africa. Today we exam Aladdin: The Story versus The Disney Movie. In fact, this was the title of the first English edition printed in the early 1700s. However, the English title is often used which is Arabian Nights.
